THREE MINUTE THESIS (3MT) Competition
.jpeg)
The Three Minute Thesis competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by Doctor of Philosophy students. Developed by The University of Queensland, 3MT cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills. The competition promotes effective communication of research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
The Program Committee of ICSEE2026 is excited to offer the 3MT competition in Israel—for the very first time—open to current Stage-B Ph.D. students (i.e., following approval of their research proposals but before being awarded a Ph.D.) and who are registered to the ICSEE2026 conference. (Having an accepted paper or poster is not a prerequisite).
Why participate?
Participating in 3MT develops academic, presentation and research communication skills, while developing research candidates’ ability to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
The format and rules of the Three Minute Thesis are strictly defined and governed by the University of Queensland. Competition rules, judging criteria, video examples, and more resources are available online:

The top-15 competitors will be preselected prior to the live event, using a 3-minute video that needs to be uploaded by all competitors (but will not be shown in the live event).
3MT Awards: To encourage Ph.D. student participation, three awards will be provided:
• First prize, as determined by judging panel: 3000 ILS
• Runner-up (second place), by judging panel: 1500 ILS
• Participants choice, by voting participants: 1500 ILS
